FC Mobile Beta What testers should try first
Four Game Plan slots, Gauntlet rounds, and four extra PlayStyles on a disposable Guest pitch.
Android store listings moved to version 28.9.02 on 1 September 2026. As of 2 September 2026 that is still the latest test binary we can confirm. The patch notes restated the same three systems: Gauntlet Mode, Game Plans, and the four extra PlayStyles (Incisive Through, Dead Ball, Driven Lob Through, Slide Tackle). This page is the feature brief. If your TestFlight build is still 28.9.01, wait for Apple to serve the newer binary — see iOS TestFlight. After you have played those systems, read the beta first look. Live anniversary dates (24 September Season Update) sit on third anniversary, not in this Guest patch.
The Limited Beta is a lab for three headline systems: Game Plans, Gauntlet Mode, and four extra PlayStyles. It is not the access policy. Dates, Guest login, TestFlight, and the no-carryover rule live on Limited Beta notes. Here you decide what to press after the first kickoff.
EA framed the test as more depth on the pitch: formations and mentalities you can swap mid-match, a multi-round mode that burns player appearances, and PlayStyles that change through balls, free kicks, lobs, and slide tackles. Creators comparing the live client with this build also flag a new scoreboard, replay treatment, and power-bar / instruction arrows. Those presentation notes are observations, not a patch table. Use them as a checklist for your own eyes, then write what you felt in the EA Beta Forums.
Because the profile is Guest-only, you can be wasteful. Build four Game Plans you would never save on your live club. Open Gauntlet with a messy bench on purpose. Force Incisive Through Pass and Driven Lob Through on the same attack. The value of the test is the comparison, not the squad you leave behind.
Game Plans: four slots, five mentalities
Game Plans let you pair a formation with a mentality and switch that pair during a match. You can store up to four plans. Mentalities are:
- Ultra Attacking
- Attacking
- Balanced
- Defensive
- Ultra Defensive
The point is not a pause-menu novelty. It is a way to change both shape and intent without rebuilding the eleven from memory while the clock runs. A 4-3-3 Balanced plan and a 5-4-1 Ultra Defensive plan are different games. Testers should save those extremes in two of the four slots, then keep a mid-block and a chase-the-game plan in the others.
Practice the swap in a low-stakes match before you take it into Gauntlet. Know which button cluster opens the plans, how long the animation locks you, and whether your fullbacks actually push when Ultra Attacking is live. If a swap feels delayed or a player ignores the new mentality, that is forum material. The full how-to, including how to think about slots, is the Game Plans guide. Formation strength for this test is ranked separately on the formations tier list.
Do not treat the four slots as cosmetic kits. Name them by job: Hold, Break, Chase, Foul-weather. Then play twenty in-game minutes where you actually change jobs. A plan you never switch to is a screenshot, not a test.
Gauntlet Mode: rounds, rules, and Stars
Gauntlet is a sequence of Rounds. Each round bundles matches with their own Objectives, Traits, and House Rules. Each Player Item has a limited number of appearances, so the first eleven cannot carry every fixture. You progress by winning matches and earning Stars that unlock rewards inside the mode.
That combination is the test. Objectives tell you what the match wants. Traits and House Rules twist how you should score or defend. Appearance limits punish a club that is a glossy starting XI and a pile of silvers. If you throw your best attackers into round one, round three may be a midfield of leftovers. Plan rotations the way you would manage minutes in a congested week.
House Rules are the wild card. Read them before kickoff. A rule that changes shot value, offside shape, or substitution timing can make a Game Plan you love look foolish. Pair Gauntlet with the four saved plans: a Defensive plan for a round that punishes you for over-committing, an Attacking plan for a round that asks for a goal quota.
Stars are the scoreboard of the mode, not a live-game currency you will keep. Spend the sandbox trying to understand which objectives are easy Stars and which ones demand a specialist PlayStyle. The Gauntlet Mode guide covers lineup rotation in more depth. Squad building and rank up matter here only as Guest experiments; nothing transfers.
If you lose a match, keep going unless the client stops you. The mode is a gauntlet of constraints, not a single-elimination panic button. Write which Trait or House Rule ended the plan, not just the final score.
Four PlayStyles the beta adds
PlayStyles already exist in the live World’s Game era as silver/gold identities. This Limited Beta adds four more for testers to feel on the ball:
- Incisive Through Pass — through balls with improved target selection and greater lead distance.
- Dead Ball — free kicks with more curl, pace, dip, and control so you can bend around a wall toward a target.
- Driven Lob Through — lobbed through balls with improved curve, control, and lead distance.
- Slide Tackle — longer slide-tackle range and faster tackle animations.
Those four change chance creation and emergency defending. Incisive Through Pass is a ground splitter that asks your runner to stay onside. Driven Lob Through is the same idea in the air, useful when a defensive line drops deep and a ground ball dies at the centre-back. Dead Ball is set-piece identity, not a generic +FK number. Slide Tackle is a timing test: the extra range is a gift if you are late, a red card factory if you are early.
Run a session that isolates them. Five attacks that only look for Incisive Through Pass. Five attacks that only look for Driven Lob Through. A handful of Dead Ball attempts from the same spot on both sides of the box. Then defend with a Slide Tackle specialist and notice whether the animation wins the ball or only wins a replay. The PlayStyles guide and the PlayStyles tier list exist for loadout talk. EA’s broader catalogue still sits in the PlayStyles deep dive; this beta page only owns the four newcomers.
Gameplay tweaks around those skills are why the test is worth a week of Guest time. Lobs that used to float harmlessly can now ask a different question if Driven Lob Through is live. Slide challenges that used to arrive a frame late can now connect. Log both the success and the foul. Designers cannot use “defending feels weird.”
HUD, scoreboard, and a 20-minute script
Creator footage of this build keeps returning to presentation. The in-match scoreboard is a new theme compared with the live client. Goal replays and post-goal moments put more weight on the scorer’s player item. Instruction arrows, the power bar, and bits of the pause / menu chrome look retuned. Treat those as visual notes. They do not change Guest rules and they do not replace Game Plans.
Use presentation changes as a calibration pass: if you cannot read the new scoreboard in extra time, that is feedback. If a PlayStyle cue is easy to miss beside the new HUD, that is feedback. If you love the replay but cannot tell which PlayStyle fired, say so on the forums with a clip.
A focused script for one evening:
- Save four Game Plans with four mentalities. Play a match where you use every slot. Details: Game Plans.
- Enter one Gauntlet round. Read Objectives, Traits, and House Rules before kickoff. Rotate appearances. Details: Gauntlet Mode.
- Force the four new PlayStyles on purpose. Details: PlayStyles.
- Watch one goal replay and one slide tackle in the new HUD and write whether the information was clearer than the live client.
That is the entire “what’s new” job. Access questions go back to Limited Beta notes and the download guide. Live redeem codes stay on Codes. When the window ends, the Guest club dies; the notes you wrote about through-ball lead distance and appearance limits are the part that was worth keeping. The live 27 Season Update on 24 September is a different icon — third anniversary — not a save restore.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers testers actually search for.
How many Game Plans can I save?
Four slots, each pairing a formation with one of five mentalities. The Game Plans guide walks setup and mid-match swaps.
What makes Gauntlet different from a normal event?
Rounds with Objectives, Traits, House Rules, limited appearances, and Stars. Plan benches, not just a starting XI. See Gauntlet Mode.
Which PlayStyles are new in this beta?
Incisive Through Pass, Dead Ball, Driven Lob Through, and Slide Tackle. Compare them on the PlayStyles guide and the PlayStyles tier list.
Are the HUD and scoreboard changes official patch notes?
EA highlights Game Plans, Gauntlet, and the four PlayStyles. Scoreboard, replay, and power-bar notes come from creator comparisons. Log what you see and send it with the PlayStyles guide open so you can name the skill.
Should I test these systems on my live account?
You cannot. The beta is Guest only. Keep live redeem work on Codes and treat this build as a lab, as Limited Beta notes explain.
